Brown & Toland Earns Pay for Performance Healthcare Award; Named “Top Performing” Physician Organization by the Integrated Healthcare Association
SAN FRANCISCO – Brown & Toland Physicianswas named a “Top Performing Physician Group” today by the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) in its annual California Pay for Performance (P4P) initiative.
Physician organizations recognized by IHA had a composite score that meets a comprehensive threshold based on the top 25% score for each measure included in P4P. The three P4P quality measurement areas include: clinical quality, patient experience, and meaningful use of health information technology. A total of 47 physician organizations were recognized by the IHA as a Top Performer for data measured for 2011.
“Brown & Toland has emphasized providing the correct preventative measures at the right time, to both keep our patients healthy and reduce the overall cost of health care,” said Andrew Snyder, M.D., Brown & Toland’s chief medical officer. “We also emphasize, and will continue to stress, improving the patient experience and providing our physicians with the electronic tools they need to improve care.”
Brown & Toland (www.brownandtoland.com) was one of the first independent practice associations in the nation to deploy an electronic health record in physician offices. To date, more than 260 physicians are using the electronic health record and all physicians in the network (more than 850) have access to clinical results online, which helps reduce duplicative testing and improve communications between physicians.
The IHA statewide P4P program is the largest non-governmental physician incentive program in the United States. IHA is responsible for collecting data, deploying a common measure set, and reporting results on behalf of eight health plans and 200 physician organizations comprised of almost 35,000 physicians that care for almost 10 million members.
